George Washington Carver

Two Eco-Heroes we admire are linked in this audio history of Carver and his vision for soil health. Steve Curwood: long time environmental reporter and producer of Public Radio’s segment “Living on Earth” ; and George Washington Carver: a much appropriated figure, yet little-known for his true impact to science. Although Curwood is not on the transcript he is the mastermind behind decades-long explorations about environmental issues in this podcast. Listen below to hear the “Life and Legacy of a Creative Scientist” aired from June 17, 2011. From their website: “Living on Earth and Planet Harmony’s Ike Sriskandarajah travels to Macon County, Alabama and discovers that Carver’s real legacy may be his vision for sustainable agriculture.”
