Hell Strips- a perfect place to build habitat with native plants.

Our Cambridge MYSEP #BiodiversityBuilders installing a hellstrip for a client last summer.

Tovah Martin via the Washington Post published this informative yet brief article yesterday about how to utilize the strip of land between the sidewalk and the road—a hellstrip. With conditions like dry soil, no shade, and countless attacks from road salt, de icing salt and more you would think nothing could grow here. We are happy to report many native plants are drought tolerant, and love a good challenge of dry soil and scorching sun. Check out the article below to get some inspiration for your own hellstrip, or even problem areas in your own yard.
