Highlights from Biodiversity Builders 2023

Wow! What a phenomenal six weeks we had with our #biodiversitybuilders. We had a total of 15 students- 6 Arlington, 6 Belmont, and 3 Cambridge- and 2 College students from Lesley and Bryn Mawr. All of our students brought personality, enthusiasm, and ample amounts of * good vibes * to each week. They showed up, eager to pull invasives, design and plant natives, learn about business, and teach us a thing or two through their self-directed project presentations! Over the course of the six weeks our students traveled all around Arlington, Belmont, and Cambridge. Highlights include Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Habitat, Invasive pulls with both Elaine Crowder (ARMi) and Sasha Vallieres (Charles River Conservancy), and of course our student run Plant Sale at our teaching site ASBPG (Alewife Showcase Biodiversity Pollinator Garden). Some of our speakers included Mothers Out Front (Soil Group), STAB (Save the Alewife Brook), Friends of Jerry’s Pond (Lew Weiztman), and our State Representative Dave Rogers! Thank you to all of our supporters (in all capacities), this program is made possible by community support and the shared compassion and action to better our ecosystems.
